A full rebuild isn't always the right call. If the bones of your site are solid but it needs new photos, a new page, or just doesn't run as fast as it should, I can work directly in the existing site instead of starting over — which usually means a faster turnaround and a smaller bill. How much do updates cost?
Smaller updates are often quoted as a flat fee per request; ongoing needs can be set up as a simple monthly arrangement. I'll quote based on what you need done.
How long do updates take?
Most single updates — new content, a new page, a speed fix — turn around within a few days.
What counts as an update versus an overhaul?
If the existing structure and design still work and you just need changes — new content, a new page, fixed bugs, speed improvements — that's an update. If the whole design and structure need to change, that's an overhaul.
Can you update a site you didn't originally build?
In most cases, yes — including WordPress sites and Shopify, BigCommerce, and Wix stores. I'll take a look at the existing site and let you know upfront if anything about the platform limits what's possible.
Can I request updates on an ongoing basis?
Yes — some clients send updates as needed, others set up a standing monthly arrangement for regular small changes.
Will updates affect how my site shows up in search?
Updates are made carefully to protect existing rankings. If a page is renamed, moved, or removed, I set up a permanent (301) redirect so links from search results and other sites still land in the right place, and the authority those links carry isn't lost. If anything, updates tend to help — fresh content and fixed issues are good for both search rankings and AI discovery.
